Young Adult Associates Visit Haven for Hope

Young Adult Associate’s Visit

Sharing God’s Love

Valentine’s Day is usually considered a day for couples, and never a day I look forward to. I usually sit at home and mope; however, this year I learned of an opportunity to hand out religious artifacts at Haven for Hope, and I jumped at the chance. I didn’t know what to expect.

A woman in a wheel chair asked for a beginner’s Bible because she couldn’t read but she wanted to start by reading the Bible. There were children running around, laughing, and enjoying themselves. Haven for Hope was the last place I thought I’d hear laughter. The kids would come to us and point to pictures of Mary or Jesus, tilt their heads and ask if they could have the image, rosary, or prayer book. The children’s eyes would light up with joy when we gave them their religious article.

Although the people at Haven for Hope may not have much, one thing that was plentiful was hope. I wouldn’t want to spend Valentine’s Day any other way. That day love was so tangible. Their happiness became contagious. This experience makes me want to do more service in the community and spread joy to everyone.

Cool Event to Attend

  • Free to attend
  • Excellent opportunity to bond
  • Excellent opportunity to meet fellow pro-lifers
  • we can form a team
  • There will be tables where you can pray in case if you can’t do the hike.
  • All monies raised will be used to open a crisis pregnancy center at Christ the King Catholic in Brownsville,Texas.

Donate $25 and you get a very nice shirt that promotes life and provides a phone number on the back that connects to a pro-life operator.

  • The Hike for Life shirts have a track record of saving babies. There was one person who went grocery shopping and was wearing this shirt and a person in crisis called it and she choose life. That is something very powerful to know.

Very Important Reading

Provided below the text is an article from the Lake Front Newspaper,  the Our Lady of the Lake University Campus Newspaper. This is an important must read! This newspaper article goes over the HHS mandate that President Obama want to have in ALL health insurance plans. Obama is crossing the lines of the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act of 2011 which states “A bill to amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to protect rights of conscience with regard to requirements for coverage of specific items and services.” This mandate crosses the lines of our beliefs and the beliefs of many across the United States.

Special thanks to our fellow Young Adult Associate Gianna Rendon ACDP for keeping the Our Lady of the Lake community informed on this issue. Keep up the excellent work.
